Growing Up Fat in a Culture of Inactivity
This magazine article, explains why children are becoming so lazy in our society. No longer do you see them out playing in the swings or sandbox, but instead playing Xbox. Over the past two decades childhood obesity has become epidemic in the US, leading many kids developing risks for future diseases. Recent studies indicate that kids from age 6 to 11 have doubled in percentage of obesity over the last two decades.

This journal talks about health risks involved in childhood obesity: heart disease, diabetes, some cancers, and orthopaedic problems. Childhood obesity is rapidly taking over the world and therefore it has been brought to the attention of the NCMP (National Child Measurement Program). It then goes on to talk about the factors that cause childhood obesity including activity levels, eating habits, and physiological factors.
